Fall food plot in Fluvanna

September 29, 2008

September 8, 2008

The Antler King Red Zone Mix that I planted two weeks ago sure did like tropical storm Hanna's visit this past Saturday. The food plot growth is outstanding and looks good. In a recent poll, 9 out of 10 deer voted that our spring planting of Antler King Red Zone sure was tasty.

My interest was peaked in how the deer would react to a fall planting of the same product. So far I have seen tracks and some young growth. I will update the website about every 2 weeks with a progress report.

Below you will see the food plot and mineral areas. One of the mineral areas still shows the aftermath of Hanna. This mineral area has been around for about a year and the deer have dug a nice hole. The second is the other area that was started over the summer.

So far the ground has been turned over. We have spread 19-19-19 fertilizer and lime. I have Antler King Red Zone just waiting for the rain to fall so we can get the seed in the ground.
